Getting Started Guide

Link your HubSpot installation

When you click the connect button you'll be asked to sign in to your HubSpot account and authorise the app. You only need to do this once to activate the app for all your users.

We ask for the "Contacts" permission, which gives the app permission to read and write contacts and companies, and add properties.

Add Properties

In order to Save data from Companies House back to your HubSpot account, we need to create some properties on your Contact and Company records. Once you click the button, a new Property Group will show up on Contacts and Companies called "UK Company LookUp Data".

At the moment we don't support importing any data to existing properties, but you can use HubSpot's automation workflows to do this.

Verify Your Email

When you sign up we'll send an email with a verification link. It'll be sent from "Weave + Blend" - if you don't see it, make sure you check your spam or junk folders.

How to find the app in HubSpot

If you've completed the previous steps, you're now ready to try the app! Just head to any Contact or Company in HubSpot, and in the sidebar you'll see the "Company LookUp" card.

Tip: you can drag the title bar to pull the card up to the top. The card is visible for everyone using your HubSpot account.

How to Search

You can search by Contact or Company. The app will be pre-filled with company or contact name. The search results returned are an exact match to the Companies House website.

If you've already saved the Contact or Company then when you click the LookUp button you'll be taken straight to the listing.

How to find your properties

By default your properties are visible by clicking "View all properties" in you Contact or Company record.

To show properties in the Contact or Company record page for just yourself - you can tick the "Add to your view" button when viewing a property.

To show properties elsewhere head to - Settings > Data Management > Properties > "Records customization" - read more on HubSpot's Knowledge Base

Viewing and Saving Contacts

To save a contact - just press "Save to HubSpot" - you'll be asked to confirm that you're making a link between the contact you opened the app from, and the person you're viewing on the app. If you've browsed to a different person on the app, you can just click "Add New" to add them as a separate contact.

Once you've saved a contact - you can then save any Companies listed against them. Remember, HubSpot only supports a single Company per Contact, so you'll be prompted if there's already a Company attached.

Contact records at Companies House are only related to appointments at companies - because of this the data we return is the data from the most recent appointment.

Remember that once you save a contact, it's not updated automatically if Companies House changes. However, we do store a "Last updated" property inside HubSpot so you can check the data.

Viewing and Saving Companies

To save a company - just press "Save to HubSpot" - you'll be asked to confirm that you're making a link between the company you opened the app from, and the company you're viewing on the app. If you've browsed to a different company on the app, you can just click "Add New" to add them as a new company.

Once you've saved a company - you can then save any contacts listed against them - if you do this via the company screen, they'll be linked to the company.

Remember that once you save a company, it's not updated automatically if Companies House changes. However, we do store a "Last updated" property inside HubSpot so you can check the data.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the data come from?
The data comes direct from the UK's Companies House. We plug into their live APIs, so the data you see is exactly the same as the data you will find on the Companies House online service.
How do I access the app?
Once installed, the app will show on the sidebar when viewing either contacts or companies
When I save to HubSpot - where does the data go?
When you sign up, you'll be prompted to add properties for companies and contacts - these will sit in a new group called "UK Company Data"
Which users can use the app?
The app is available to all HubSpot CRM users in your organisation
Can I update the data?
When you save data to HubSpot it captures today's data. Once saved, you can click into the company and use the "Update" function to save new data. We also store the "last saved date" as a property so that you can see if your records are out of date.
What if the company name is different in HubSpot?
No problem - when you open the app - a search will start using the company name in HubSpot, but you can start a new search at any time. Once saved, the registered company name is saved as a separate property in HubSpot.
Can I save director information?
Yes! Once you have saved a company to HubSpot, an option will appear to save as many contacts as you like - these will be added as new contacts inside HubSpot.
How do you get contact data?
Data for individuals at Companies house are saved per registration. We use the users' most recent company registration to pull contact data. You will see this noted when viewing a contact.
What if I need more than 5,000 views?
